Banana Cacao Almond Tart

  • 1 1/4 Cups Almonds ground into almond meal
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/3 Cup sugar *** i have made this without adding sugar and it was delish….
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 3 ripe bananas and one not so ripe to slice and decorate on top before baking
  • Coarse salt .. for sprinkling on top.. after baked.  I used Espresso Coarse salt..
  • 2-3 TBS cacao or carob powder (optional)

Blueberries/ sliced almonds for the top before baking

Preheat oven to 300 degrees.  Coat oil (coconut oil or any oil) in the tart pan then dust with flour or almond meal.  If making almond meal (you can buy almond meal) grind almonds in food processor till flour consistency and be mindful as to mix only until it looks like meal or flour.  Put in a bowl with the Baking Powder.. mix.

In the food processor add eggs, sugar (or not, I didn’t ) cinnamon and bananas… blend for about 6 minutes until fluffy and light pale color.   Add this to the almond meal/ baking powder.  Stir completely.  If you want to add some cocao to the tart, separate about 1 cup of the batter in another bowl and add the cocao powder, combine together.

Pour half of the regular batter into tart pan, then add cocao batter on top then top with the rest of the batter on top.  Slice Bananas on top, add slice almonds, blueberries.. be creative.. Bake at 300 degrees for 45-55 minutes.  At 40 minutes check it to see if it is done.  When it comes out sprinkle with a bit of the sea salt and maybe some sugar….


The one I made I forgot to add the sugar and it turned out just fine!  I am sure the sugar would definitely make it better, yet when you can… have less sugar..
